The UM Integrated Laboratory (UIL) at Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) plays a pivotal role in coordinating various operational aspects of laboratories across the campus. The UIL’s primary responsibilities include:
- Inventory Management: Ensuring structured and organized inventory management through a Centralized Management System (CMS).
- Safety: Guaranteeing all laboratories adhere to clear, detailed safety rules and procedures.
- Waste Management: Guiding laboratories to implement stringent waste management procedures to dispose of or recycle waste products safely.
- Operational Standards: Developing and enforcing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in all laboratories to ensure consistency and safety.
- Training: Training researchers and students to ensure competence in using laboratory equipment and methodologies.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensuring consistent care and maintenance of laboratory equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure longevity.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all laboratories comply with all relevant regulations and legal requirements to sustain their operations.
Furthermore, the UIL also oversees a specialized laboratory located on the second floor of Building A19 at UM. Equipped with contemporary research laboratories and instrumental facilities, the UIL ensures that substantial investments in sophisticated machinery are optimized for research activities at UM. This resource optimization enables researchers to produce valuable publications and innovations, thereby contributing to the advancement of the nation and state.
