Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES) Thermo Scientific iCAP PRO XP

ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma – Optical Emission Spectrometry) is an analytical technique used to detect chemical elements of metallic elements. ICP OES has the advantage of being able to determine up to 70 elements simultaneously. ICP-OES uses plasma as the atomization source. The technique is based on the spontaneous emission of photons from excited atoms and ions in a Radio Frequency (RF) discharge. The wavelength of the photon can be used to identify the elements of origin. The total number of photons is directly proportional to the concentration of the element in the sample.

In general, ICP-OES can be used for quantitative analysis of samples in environmental fields (including purification and distribution of water elements that are not easily recognized by AAS such as sulfur, borax, phosphorus, titanium, and zirconium), petroleum, pharmaceutical, food, petrochemical, mining, and fuel. Samples can be tested in the form of liquid, gas, or solid samples. However, solid samples require initial treatment for the destruction or dissolution process so that the analyte is obtained in the form of a solution.
